It might seem counterintuitive to see “fit after 50” and “Great Donut Run” in the same headline, but heck, how fun is a donut run? It’s tons of fun, according to Cindy Chong, founder of Lace It Up Events and Race Director of The Great Donut Run in Orange County, California. Now in its 3rd year, the Great Donut Run is projecting over 2,000 participants of all ages, enjoying a fit, fun and festive 5K run/walk with friends, family and lots of donuts. If you don’t live in Orange County, but the thought of running and eating donuts makes you want to lace up your sneakers, don’t be dismayed. Donut Runs are popping up all over the country, along with beer, bacon, pizza and other tantalizing food runs. And while we don’t recommend a food run as part of your regular weekly workout, whacky food runs are a great introduction to the camaraderie of the running world … and not take life so seriously!
